Technological University (Thanlyin) is a technological university located in Thanlyin Township, Yangon Division, the Union of the Republic of Myanmar.
In January 1986 Ministry of industry (1) founded Industrial Training School, which was very first origin trace of the university. In March 1993, this training school was transferred to Ministry of Education from the Ministry of Industry (1). The school because a Government Technical Institute (GTI), offering two-year diplomas on vocational studies.
The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) was formed on 2nd October, 1996. Government Technological Institute was transfer from the Ministry of Education to the newly formed Ministry of Science and Technology on 1st January, 1997.
On 2nd October, 1999, GTI was upgraded to a Government Technological Collage (GTC) which offered four-year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programmer. On 20th January, 2007 to offer Bachelor’s degree programmer in Engineering and Architecture, it was promoted to Technological University level and was named Technological University (Thanlyin).
